In addition to the typical file formats supported by this application, Cut2D Pro provides an XML file format, which can be used to store cutting parameters as well as cut information. This XML format provides a level of flexibility and customization as well as a greater similarity to DXF , another manufacturing standard. Cut2D Pro provides support for both DXF files and MDF files. Like DXF, MDF files can be opened and edited directly using a standard word processor.
To understand the differences between the file formats, it is instructive to look at a brief example. The following figure compares the exact bitmaps used for the drawing of a simple cross-section of a plank of thickness t, for both DXF and MDF files.
When the file has been saved as a DXF file, Cut2D Pro provides the option to convert the DXF file into an MDF file. This provides the advantage of converting a DXF file for direct editing in a word-processor application, which can be useful for experimentation and teaching.
Next, select the converted entity (i.e. MDF file). Type in the appropriate GUID and message, any labels you need to use in the production process and print directly to the production tool. The remaining process is almost the same as when using DXF files. Only DXF files can be printed directly from Cut2D Pro. To be able to print to a 3D printer as wellin the 3D smart modewe recommend that you use the EUROFINDER extension for MDF files. After using Cut2D Pro for some time, you will no longer need these regions to print directly to the machine, as the 3D smart mode will handle most situations on its own. d2c66b5586
